Mobile data over the mobile network covers the cases a fixed service cannot: the site that has no line yet, the team working somewhere temporary, the equipment out in the field, and the office that cannot afford to be offline when the fixed connection drops.
Failover is the most common of these. A suitable router holds a mobile connection in reserve and moves traffic onto it when the main service fails, so payments, cloud tools and calls keep working while the fault is resolved. It needs compatible hardware — a standard modem will not do it — which is why the network setup is reviewed alongside the data service.
Coverage and capability at your specific location decide what is realistic, so those are confirmed for the site rather than assumed from a map.
