What a SIP trunk actually is

Connect a compatible phone system to business voice services, with channel capacity, number porting and configuration reviewed before anything is ordered.

A SIP trunk is the line into your phone system, delivered over your internet connection instead of the physical copper or ISDN lines it replaces. The phone system stays where it is; what changes is how calls reach it.

The main decisions are channel capacity and number porting. Channels are sized against concurrent calls at your busiest time, while porting keeps the numbers already used on your website, signage and customer contacts working after the change.

Key benefits

Why businesses move voice to SIP

SIP replaces fixed copper services with business voice delivered over the internet, giving the phone system more room to adapt as the organisation changes.

Significant cost savings

Remove physical line rentals and reduce call costs, particularly for long-distance and international calling.

Instant scalability

Add or remove voice channels as demand changes, without waiting for new physical lines or a cabling visit.

Reliability and failover

Built-in failover can reroute incoming calls to mobiles or another office when the primary internet service is unavailable.

Flexibility and mobility

Staff can use their business number away from the desk through compatible softphones and mobile applications.

What's included

What this covers

  • Carrier-grade SIP through leading Tier-1 telecommunications carriers, with local Australian data centres and multi-carrier redundancy
  • Number hosting for local, national and 1300 / 1800 services, with no upfront porting costs and same-day provisioning when eligible
  • PBX integration across Ericsson-LG iPECS, NEC, Avaya, Cisco, 3CX, Yeastar and other compatible on-premise or cloud systems
  • Locked-down SIP registration, voice-network security and local technicians supporting single and multi-site deployments
  • Cloud-optimised, month-to-month services that can move with an office without a 12 or 24-month lock-in contract
How it works
  1. 1
    Assess and size

We confirm PBX compatibility, size channels against peak concurrent calls and list every number that needs to port.

  2. 2
    Configure and port

The trunk is provisioned and configured against your system while the port order runs in parallel, so both land together.

  3. 3
    Test, cut over and support

We test inbound and outbound calling before switching, then stay available afterwards for tuning and faults.
